FORMATION OF A REGIONAL STRATEGY FOR THE EFFECTIVE USE OF URBAN TERRITORIES

Abstract

The formation of a regional strategy for the effective use of urban areas is an extremely urgent task. Such a strategy should take into account the environmental, social and economic aspects of urban development, promote the preservation and restoration of green areas, ensure rational planning of development and infrastructure, and adapt to demographic changes. The rapid growth of the urban population is accompanied by a number of problems, including: a decrease in the area of green areas (in many cities of Ukraine there is a tendency to reduce the area of green spaces, which negatively affects the ecological state and quality of life of the population), chaotic development (the lack of clear strategies for the development of urban areas leads to an uneven distribution of infrastructure and social services, which complicates residents' access to necessary resources), environmental challenges (intensive urbanization causes an increase in the level of air, water and soil pollution, and also increases the risks of urban heat islands and other negative environmental phenomena). The study is aimed at developing and implementing effective regional strategies for the use of urban areas, which is extremely necessary to ensure the sustainable development of Ukrainian cities and improve the quality of life of their residents. The article offers recommendations for the rational expansion of infrastructure for the purpose of effective use of urban areas: development of intercepting parking lots (creation of parking lots near metro stations to reduce the number of cars in the city center); modernization of public transport (introduction of new routes and renewal of rolling stock, improvement of travel intervals and convenience of transfers); expansion of bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure (creation of safe bicycle paths and pedestrian zones, integration with the existing transport network); green areas and public spaces (development of parks and squares to improve the quality of life of residents, introduction of elements of green infrastructure to reduce the thermal effect of the city). Formation of a regional strategy for the effective use of urban areas is an important tool for ensuring sustainable development of cities. A comprehensive approach to spatial planning, the introduction of innovative technologies, and consideration of environmental aspects will ensure a comfortable living environment and economic stability of the regions.
